Read to the bottom for a gift wrapping hack I just figured out for myself! A post by @Amy L Payne in the PHS group yesterday prompted me to start thinking about my gift wrapping strategy this year. I always used to stay up way too late wrapping at the dining room table on December 23 or even 24, and I hated it. Last year I planned better and got everything wrapped over a longer period before December 23, which was more enjoyable. I want this year to be better still. Inspired by Amy, I have set up a wrapping station in my office (photo 1), and I was determined to start before December 1. I mostly use gift bags, but our new house has few safe hiding spots and I have at least one kid who will probably soon start hunting to get a sneak peak, so I decided to wrap a few gifts in wrapping paper right away in case they find my stash. I did not have time for ribbons or bows or tags today, but I did not want to forget what the wrapped gifts were. Also my kids don’t have their own phones yet and borrow mine a lot, so I didn’t want any digital notes to myself to be findable, accidentally or otherwise. A few months ago I downloaded a journaling app to my phone and occasionally use it to make quick notes about my day and upload photos. It complements my paper journal nicely. (Photo 2) Here is my brainwave: I make a journal entry for each gift I wrap with a photo and description of what it is and who it is for (Photo 3). My journal is one of the few apps I have that needs facial recognition to be opened, so nobody can see the contents if I don’t want them to. I can even delete the entries if I want to after Christmas! (Now I just have to remember not to let my kids browse the posts in this app until after the 25th…) #giftwrapping #holidayblitz
